Children should not arrive on the school grounds earlier than 8:20 AM. Schools are not responsible for outside supervision prior to 8:20 AM. The only exceptions are for those students attending before school programs, vocal and instrumental music rehearsals, or Student Council meetings. The first bell rings at 8:30 AM, at which time children are invited to enter the building.

Children are considered tardy if they arrive after the 8:35 AM late bell. Tardy records appear on your child's report card and are therefore part of your permanent record.

Morning Arrival

Bus Drop Off: Students arriving at school by bus exit at 8:20 and line up with their classes either at designated locations outside, or inside in front of their classrooms in the event of inclement weather.

Walkers: Students who walk to school should arrive on school property between 8:20 and 8:30 AM. They walk to their designated classroom location. In the event of inclement weather, students line up inside in front of their classrooms.

Parent Drop Off: Student driven to school are dropped off in two locations. Students can be dropped off in the circle off Peyote Road from Hilldale Road. A teacher is available from 8:20 to 8:35 AM to assist students as they exit vehicles. Please be sure your little passengers are ready to hop out quickly to ensure all cars will be emptied by the late bell. Students can also be dropped off outside the King Philip Drive entrance by the crossing guard. Please pull over carefully and have your children exit from the curb side of the vehicle.

Afternoon Dismissal:

Our dismissal procedures run like a well-oiled machine to ensure the safety of every student. Please make sure to send in a note to your child's teacher whenever there is a change in your child's after-school plans. Unless there is a note, children will follow their usual after-school arrangements, i.e., ride the bus, go to WHEEII, or walk home. Please plan ahead and try not to call the office with changes in dismissal plans since we cannot guarantee that telephone messages will be conveyed to students prior to dismissal.

Bus Pick Up: Students taking the bus home from school wait in their classrooms and are called to exit the building as buses arrive on school grounds. Student Safety Patrollers escort groups of students through the halls and out of the building.

Walkers and Parent Pick Ups: The dismissal of students who walk home from school or are picked up by a parent is called over the loud speaker after the dismissal bell rings at 3:20 PM. Kindergarten and first grade students exit through the doors of the K/1 wing of the building. Second through fifth grade students exit the building through the main entrance. Parents are welcome to wait for their child at the main entrance of the K/1 door. Older students can also meet parents on Hilldale Road or King Philip Drive.

WHEE and After School Activities: The dismissal of students attending the WHEE program or after school activities like Homework Center and Mad Science are called over the loud speaker.
